Dance Classes for Everyone: Swing,
Latin, Ballroom, Salsa, Hip Hop, Belly Dance, Wedding Dance and More.
"After our dance lessons with you, we went to a wedding. My girlfriend said it was the first time she's ever danced at a wedding, and that she actually enjoyed herself; it was not what she expected.
So, thanks for making the dancing easy, accessible, and fun... even for someone who thought she'd NEVER dance." Pat S., Cambridge, MA

Liz, you are a truly amazing teacher—unfailingly upbeat, encouraging, and inspiring. You make even the most challenging steps fun to learn! I only wish I’d started taking these classes years ago, but I’m amazed by how far I’ve come in a few short months. We just agreed to go out dancing on New Year's eve. I would have never done this before taking lessons with Liz. I highly recommend her - especially if you are new to dancing and certainly if you, like me, have felt as though it is impossible to learn. She is funny, lively, and she is an expert in teaching novices. If you are considering dance lessons, I recommend that you give Liz a try. She makes it easy. I got more than my money's worth." J. Britt, Newton, MA

Our most recent review on Angie's List:
"My girlfriend and I took 10 lessons in merengue and salsa from Liz. I had never succeeded in dancing, despite many efforts, prior to taking these lessons.
I am a self-confessed, lifelong failure at dancing. It looks like it could be fun and it has been important, in each of my relationships, that dancing become a part of our time away from kids, work, and responsibility. I have taken salsa and swing lessons many times and, each time, I have completely embarrassed myself. I am not a natural at this and I grew to hate the thought of dancing, dance lessons, etc.
I am now settled and my life partner has desperately wanted me to learn to dance. After several years of avoidance, I reluctantly agreed to sign up for 10 lessons with Liz Nania at Out to Dance.
Bottom line: by the 4th or 5th lesson I started to enjoy it. By the 7th or 8th lesson, I could actually dance. Fred Astaire, I'm not. But I'm good enough to have fun and not embarrass myself. And, for my girlfriend, it is important. Note to those who are brand new to fitness and dance:
Here's a tip to novices for keeping up in class; don't try too hard to "keep up", since everyone goes at their own pace in our classes. We promise not to leave you behind. Our instructors are very aware that everyone's body and energy level is different. Minimize your movements and try to make every movement smaller, moving more efficiently, if you are wanting to tame the pace a bit. You can get the same fitness benefits as the person next to you, even if you are pushing yourself just to your comfort level. Feel free to tell your instructor if you may need to take it easy, and she will always give the whole class tips on how to make the dance experience comfortable and challenging for each person's level. You'll feel a difference in 6 weeks. And you'll feel fantastic at the end of each evening!
Latin Dance Immersion: Salsa and More- near Puerto Vallarta with Liz, Dec. 27-Jan. 4, 2013!
Imagine the best vacation of your life: Latin dancing, art and cultural excursions in Mexico! Immerse yourself in the joys of Latin dancing at one of the most beautiful and arts-oriented locales in Latin America, Casa de los Artistas. Expect a sunny mid-70s to low 80s climate while dancing in the Casa open air studio overlooking the ocean, river and village.
Salsa dancing will be our main focus, and you'll also enjoy some merengue, cha cha and rhumba to expand your Latin dance experience. You'll see how the steps in each of the dances overlap, so you'll learn even faster than you imagined, and definitely at your own pace in our small-group setting; it's like taking private lessons, but with fun new friends!
Whether you have only dreamed of Latin dancing or you have a little experience, you'll learn lots of exhilarating dance moves in this immersion week. You'll also enjoy some fantastic evenings of dancing at our party at the Casa for friends and locals, and our night out at the salsa club in town which features a live band. No partner or dance experience is needed. (You are encouraged, but not required, to change partners during dance classes.) If you already know a little Latin dance, you'll get a good review and definitely learn some fun new moves. Both heterosexual folks and LGBT folks are all encouraged to join the fun. (Puerto Vallarta is home to one of the largest GLBT communities in Mexico, so people of all sexual orientations will feel comfortable in the salsa club and in town.)
After a delicious breakfast, you'll enjoy three hours of Latin dance classes every morning. Then get ready for a mouthwatering Mexican lunch prepared by the wonderful Casa chef Ruby and her assistants.
Take the afternoons to enjoy exciting excursions provided by your hosts, or go on your own to explore the incredible natural beauty, beaches, local culture, cafés and shops, or just take a siesta in your private ocean-side room. After dinner at a local restaurant on the beach, enjoy an evening of a dance party with the locals on the premises, a night out at the salsa club with a live band, or simple lounging and good conversation.
The Casa is not a four-star luxury chain hotel, nor does it want to be; it is however a Five Star Retreat Center. It is located on a mountainside and you may walk up 20 or 25 steps to your ocean-side room. You will walk a woodsy uneven path for 5 to 10 minutes in the evenings to a local restaurant. The town is paved in cobblestones. You will hear the natural sounds of the sea and tropical birds. It's all very safe and friendly, a place where women do not fear taking strolls at night, but individuals with mobility questions may want this information.
(Your non-dancing partner is also welcome.)
